Anderson School District One offers summer food program

Anderson School District One is participating in the Summer Food Service Program.  Meals will be  provided on-site at Wren High, Spearman Elementary and Palmetto Middle Schools.  Meals to  children/youth/teenagers ages 4 – 18 are FREE of charge. The program will run through July 28.
Children/youth/teenagers unable to participate at an on-site school may be able to attend a delivery site.  Delivery sites in the Powdersville area are Heritage Trace Apartments and the Powdersville YMCA.
Delivery sites for the Williamston, Pelzer and West Pelzer areas are Mineral Spring Park (Williamston), Restoration Chapel (Williamston), and Church of God (Pelzer).
Children may receive lunch and a snack at no charge on Monday through Friday of each week.  There will be no service the week of July 4th.   Meal service will resume July 10th.

School Board meet at Powdersville High library

Anderson School District One Board of Trustees met Tuesday at the Powdersville High School library where they heard an update on the building plan, approved first reading on 13 Board Policies and heard preliminary budget information.
New Board Member Pat Cox was sworn in. Cox was appointed by the District One Board to fill the unexpired term of former Board Chairman Fred Alexander who passed away in Nov.

Powdersville Sports Awards

The State Champion Powdersville Boys Cross Country Team were among a number of Varsity, JV and Middle School athletes receiving awards during the Powdersville Sports Awards program held recently. Receiving awards on the Powdersville CC team were: Josh Moore (All Region, All State), Cameron Matthews (All Region), Michael Davis, Jordan Parish (All Region), Noah Brock (Varsity Most Dedicated, All Region), Kollin Campbell (Varsity Most Improved), Brendan McManamon (Varsity Most Valuable, All Region, All State), Francisco Del Valle. School District One graduation at record high

Anderson School District One officials announced this week that the graduation rate in District One increased from 91.6 in 2015 to 93.1 in 2016.

Wren High School had the highest graduation rate in the district with a 97.2. Powdersville High School was right with Wren with a graduation rate of 97.1. Palmetto High School has a 85.8 graduation rate.

Powdersville Boys Cross Country State Champions

The Powdersville Boys Cross Country Team made history by becoming the school’s first athletic team to win a state championship. They won the 3A Cross Country Title on Saturday at the State Cross Country Meet held at the Sandhill Station in Columbia.
