Driver escapes injury – I85

House fire under investigation

Firefighters from three departments battle a house fire Tuesday night on Highway 81 near Irby Road. When Piercetown firefighters arrived two minutes after receiving the call flames were coming from the roof of the home. The occupant had made it out of the burning home. Three and Twenty and West Pelzer firefighters assisted in extinguishing the fire. Pelzer EMS also responded to the call. A fire investigator was called to determine the cause of the blaze. One injured – Firetower Road

Four injured – Piercetown

Piercetown firefighters work at the scene of an accident that left four people injured. A pickup truck and car collided at the intersection of I-85 and Highway 8. Makes emergency landing – Midway Road

A small plane made an emergency landing in a field off Midway Road Monday afternoon. The two on board escaped injury. The plane was enroute to Greenville Downtown Airport. Belton EMS, Medshore Ambulance Service, Hopewell and Piercetown firefighters responded. (Photo by David Rogers)

Information meeting on Martin Road temp closing

Anderson County will host a public informational meeting on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Piercetown Fire Department, 5150 Highway 81 N, Williamston. The purpose for the meeting is to inform local residents and affected persons of the upcoming temporary closure of Martin Road for road improvement construction work.

Construction has begun on the road projects associated with the expansion and relocation of Techtronic Industries Power Equipment facilities near the I-85/SC 81 Interchange. The county secured state and federal funding for the project; in December awarded the contract to S&S Construction of Anderson for $5,193,207.12. The project is anticipated to be completed by June 30, 2016.

Truck jack knifes – I85

A car went under the trailer of a tractor trailer on I-85 south on Saturday night after the big rig jack knifed. The accident, which happened between Highways 8 and 81 closed all lanes except the outside emergency lane. Pelzer EMS and Piercetown firefighters responded but no one was injured. Truck strikes vehicle, leaves scene – Piercetown

Piercetown firefighters put down absorbent after a pickup truck struck another vehicle. The truck struck a vehicle at the intersection of Highway 88 and Wilderness Trail. Piercetown car fire – I85

Piercetown firefighters work to extinguish a car fire Friday afternoon on the northbound exit ramp from I-85 on Highway 8. The car was nearly engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Firefighters had to use foam to eventually extinguish the fire.
