Piedmont Public Service District report

The Piedmont Public Service Commission held a brief, businesslike meeting Monday night.

Recreation committee chairperson Lib Pack reported that the community building generated $342.50 last month, while the ball fields generated revenues that are paid on a monthly basis by the groups using the fields.

The Piedmont Public Service Commission held its monthly meeting Monday night, and moved quickly through a routine agenda.

PPSD Fire Chief Wallace reported that the department received training in the areas of safety gear, and self contained breathing apparatus, while Assistant Chief Craig Lawless received training in FEMA grants. Lawless also said that newly elected Greenville County Councilman Lynn Ballard had been by to talk with him and Chief Wallace and to see what kind of funds for station maintenance might be available from the GCC.

Piedmont approves budget for 2014-2015

With little discussion and no dissent, the Piedmont Public Service Commission gave unanimous final approval to the 2014 – 2015 budget Monday night. The budget, which avoids any millage increase, also provides all full time employees with a one and a half per cent pay increase.

Refinance on loan will save PPSD on interest

The Piedmont Public Service District Board of Commissioners took care of a good bit of housekeeping Monday night, awarding contracts for the next three years’ lawn maintenance and auditing services. They also approved a refinancing of one of the department’s fire trucks.
